Alice in Puzzleland by Escape Hunt – Basingstoke

This room saw both us and Escape Hunt redeem ourselves with an amazing game of Alice in Puzzleland.

Tasked with freeing the Mad Hatter and finding the lost jam tarts, we entered the room and were immediately impressed by the amazing set. There were some fantastic puzzles and again only one padlock in sight!

This time, the room was much more logical and flowed seamlessly from one clue to the next.

We smashed it in 29 minutes and 34 seconds which we were told was not only this month’s record but the fastest time the gamemasters had seen in Basingstoke ever.

Seven Sins by Elusion – Southampton

This time we went head to head. Hens vs stags, albeit 3 weeks apart. It was tough going first and not being able to talk about the room for that amount of time!

The room itself was dark and sinister with a gruesome setting that didn’t leave much to the imagination! The task is to work your way through the 7 sins whilst collecting items needed to escape. Clues can only be asked for as a trade.

The theming, clues and concepts are all brilliant and this turned out to be one of the best rooms we had completed in a while. It was very well thought out, worked seemlessly and gave us that rush of adrenaline that we had missed over lockdown. Better still, many of the hens and stags who had not completed escape rooms before, were inspired to do more.

To the girls annoyance, the boys smashed it in 42 minutes (compared to the girls’ 57 minutes) although both times are quite impressive with only a 30% success rate overall. Highly recommended!

Dream team and a great time for a 75 minute game.

This was a brilliant game. The setting takes you back to a dated house where you move between the different rooms. The range of clues and puzzles were excellent, using more than one of the senses, and some of the clues we had not come across before which was refreshing. It was a good mixture of logic, skill and thinking outside of the box to solve these clues. Even though we had a big team of 6, there was usually enough to keep us all busy. The game flowed well and followed a logical order. We would definitely recommend this game if you are in the Winchester area and we hope to go back to attempt their other rooms.

One of our favourite ever escape rooms! The story and theming were fantastic with a great set and high-quality clues and props. The puzzles were innovative, well designed and the whole game had a logical, seamless flow. The method for receiving clues is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole room. We will definitely be recommending this one!

Another great escape room by Clue HQ. The design of the set and game are very good. There is an extra twist at the beginning which I don’t want to spoil but it was enjoyable to solve. The variety of clues also meant we had to work to our strengths for some clues and work as a whole team for others. Another brilliant, highly enjoyable game. And we got the record again too!

This was a fantastic escape room! You are greeted by the Gamemaster who is already in character. Even the waiting room is immersive and then you are taken through to an old fashioned cinema for the introduction. The room itself is very immersive with a brilliant range of puzzles. Some puzzles were straight forward and others were hard. Hints were only given when asked so we went at a pace suited to our team. We would highly recommend this escape room!

This was my first ever escape room and what a room – it is no surprise that I got the bug! My friends and I had never done an escape room before so didn’t actually have a clue what we were meant to be doing. With good humour, the gamemaster gave us a lot of clues and luckily, we made it to the end – just.

Both the storyline and decor were fantastic and helped to create a rustic yet mystical atmosphere. The range of puzzles were amazing and there was a brilliant surprise in the last room – I won’t give any spoilers away.

With hindsight, I wish I had been more experienced when going in the room as at the time, I didn’t fully appreciate it. Overall it is a well-planned room with excellent puzzles and theming. I would highly recommend this one if you find yourself in Belfast.
