This is possibly one of the worst rooms I’ve ever done. We booked it last minute on our way home from a weekend break. There is a reason why this room wasn’t booked up. It was advertised as, “An escape room with a difference.” In my experience, this means it’s either going to be amazing or awful – one extreme or the other. This was the latter.

When you enter, you are faced with a blank room with obvious cupboards to open and told the story about something going wrong on the space station. At this point we were still open minded as although we prefer more immersive games, thought this could still be brilliant.

Finding the puzzles were easy. Disappointingly, they were mainly just drawn on the inside of the cupboards with sharpies with a couple of switches and key pads wired up. The puzzles themselves had absolutely nothing to do with the theme. There was an element of logic to some of them but there were also random things that were meant as red herrings. This just turned it into a bit of a guessing game about what was useful.

The process of asking for hints was also disappointing. You had to shout for help and then a few minutes later, one of the games masters would come into the room and tell you what to do. This, obviously, also completely broke from any shred of immersiveness there might have been.

We finally got through to the second room which had a better puzzle but we were already bored and a bit disillusioned by that point. We couldn’t help but think about the waste of money and time.

Overall, I would not recommend this escape room.
